The owner, Millete Birhanemaskel, who is Ethiopian, decided to do this ceremony one Sunday, and it became a tradition. Locals love to hear her share about the traditions and culture surrounding coffee.

The Whittier Cafe has been serving coffee since 2014. Their coffee menu includes traditional lattes and espressos with your choice of flavors and can be topped with whipped cream. One of the many things that makes this little cafe so unique is that their coffee is sourced from ethical sellers in Africa.

You can also order a delicious baked good to go alongside your coffee drink. They have muffins, scones, bagels, and even burritos if you’d prefer something more filling. In addition to coffee, you can also order chai lattes, hot cocoa, or select a cold bottled beverage.
