Radio Coffee and Beer – Austin

Radio Coffee and beer

Radio Coffee and Beer is a coffee shop and bar that can be found in southern Austin, Texas. The idea for the multi-faceted establishment came from the mind and experiences of Jack Wilson, who founded and owns Radio Coffee alongside his father, Greg Wilson. Jack enjoyed the touring life of a singer-songwriter, and with that, he has seen a wealth of coffee shops and bars throughout the country. After having apprenticed at Victrola Coffee Roasters in Seattle, Washington, he put his experience and expertise into his own business in 2014, and Radio Coffee and Beer was born.

They Feature Local Austin Roasters

While their various trades are of equal importance to the style of business Radio Coffee strives to be, coffee is first in the name. Radio Coffee currently features roasts from two local Austin Roasters, Little City and Wild Gift.

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Company

Also featured is the Portland, Oregon based Stumptown Coffee Roaster, whom Jack made a connection with in his Seattle days. It is important to Radio Coffee that each roaster in their repertoire works with sustainable and eco-friendly efforts, and of course provides beans of the best quality.

Radio Coffee serves the usual array of espresso, mochas, macchiatos, lattes, and drip coffee, but their biggest seller is their on-tap nitro from Stumptown Coffee.  Sat alongside the wealth of beers they have on tap, the nitro cold-brew is a creamy delicacy of coffee. Next in the name is those beer taps it sits next to.

Also Serving 24 Local Brews

Representing largely local breweries, Radio Coffee and Beer keeps as many as twenty-four beers in rotation. The most recent addition to the beverage offerings includes a plethora of cocktails and spirits.

Lastly, to ensure there’s something for everyone at Radio Coffee, there is food. Currently, you can find Veracruz Tacos and Dee Dee food trucks serving up their selections of tacos and Thai food. It is also not unlikely or unwelcome for other food trucks to have set up shop as well.

The Decor is Inviting & Unique

Filling out the rest of what makes Radio Coffee and Beer unique is its aesthetic. The interior resembles that of a wooden beach home or cabin, and it is unsurprising to find out that the store has been built out of a renovated home.

Wooden tables, walls, counters, and a vaulted ceiling keep the place feeling comfortable, and the products they serve lend to the communal aspects as well, but what really shouts Radio Coffee is the stage.

There’s More than Just Drinks!

A staple of their business is the frequent live music. They host musical events multiple nights a week, from acoustic singer-songwriter performances to Monday Bluegrass nights.

Large groups of people can gather at the outdoor tables and enjoy live music, or even comedy or trivia events, with a beverage of their choice in hand, be it coffee, beer, or a cocktail.

Final Words

All of these facets that Radio Coffee and Beer facilitates are done with complete commitment. If something is not up to their high standards, they say it will simply be redone or remade until it is right.
