If you’re a coffee enthusiast, you might have heard about Jura coffee machines: the high-end coffee makers that promise an impeccable coffee experience like no other.
However, as you’re looking through options to upgrade your coffee game, the hefty price tag attached to Jura models might leave you wondering, “are they even worth the money?”
Two years ago, I decided to buy the Jura E8 without asking my husband. Good thing, I gifted it to him for Christmas, lol. With that said, in this article, I’ll tell you why the Jura coffee machines make delicious lattes, if they’re quality, why people love their Jura machines like their firstborn, and lastly, why they are worth your money! Off we go.
Are Jura Coffee Machines Worth the Money?
While the truth is subjective and dependent on various factors, I honestly love the living sh!t out of my Jura E8, so yes, Jura coffee machines are worth the money.
Firstly, Jura machines are undoubtedly expensive, with models ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. However, if you’re someone who makes several coffee drinks a day especially specialty ones, or has a family that are all coffee drinking, or hell, you just LOVE your coffee, then a Jura machine may save you money in the long run. By investing in high-quality coffee beans and using the machine yourself, you can save money compared to buying premium coffee beverages from coffee shops every day. (Booooo, Starbucks!)
Secondly, Jura machines are built to last. They’re made with sturdy and quality parts and materials, have long warranties, and are designed to be easily repaired to extend their lifespan. This longevity makes them a sound investment for someone looking for a coffee machine that will stand the test of time.
Lastly, if you’re someone who values convenience and precision when it comes to coffee-making, a Jura machine is worth the investment. A Jura machine can deliver consistent, excellent coffee beverages every time and that’s why I love this expensive ass coffee machine. Call me a coffee snob, I suppose!
Why Are the Jura Coffee Machines So Popular?
First off, let’s talk about what Jura coffee machines are and why they’re so freaking popular.
Jura is a Switzerland-based brand that makes premium domestic and commercial coffee machines and because of that, they have a strict focus on quality and durability. They manufacture espresso machines using only the highest-grade materials, which is one of the main reasons why they are so popular and loved.
Jura Machines Are Known for Unparalleled Convenience
One of the main selling points of the Jura models is their unparalleled convenience: they offer one-touch technology that can brew various coffee beverages including espresso, latte macchiato, cappuccino, and more. How amazing is that?
Jura Coffee Makers Have Conical Grinders
It gets even better. Jura machines have high-quality conical grinders that ensure a fresh cup every time, customizable coffee strength, and milk frothers that consistently create smooth, creamy milk-based drinks.

3. Jura D6 Automatic Coffee Machine
The D6 is a great choice for those looking for reliability, as it features the brand’s patented Pulse Extraction Process that optimizes aroma and flavor extraction.

5. Jura S8 Superautomatic Espresso Machine
The S8 is a top-of-the-line Jura model that offers revolutionary technology, like the Aroma G3 grinder and water filter. It also has a modern, sleek design that looks great in any kitchen!
What Makes JURA So Expensive?
The main reason is due to their quality of components and materials. The Swiss don’t compromise on producing a quality product!
Jura uses superior parts such as stainless steel boilers, high-quality conical grinders, and thick milk frothers for precise coffee making. Additionally, the design and engineering put into these machines is top-notch, which is reflected in their price.
The Swiss manufacturing process also adds to the cost. Jura machines are hand-crafted and made to strict quality standards, which requires additional time and effort.
How Long Does a Jura Coffee Machine Last?
Most Jura machines are built with quality components and can last for many years. They have warranties ranging from 1 to 5 years depending on the model you purchase. Lastly, they are designed to be easily repaired and maintained so that you can extend their lifespan.
Knock on wood, my Jura 8 is a little over 2 years old and I’ve had no issues at all with it but also, the warranty gives me peace of mind.
What is Comparable to a Jura?
If you’re looking for a coffee machine that can deliver great tasting coffee with convenience and precision, then there are a few comparable high-end models.
The Gaggia Anima Prestige is the closest in terms of features and performance, while the Breville Oracle Touch is another amazing option if you’re looking for more customizability and ease of use.
A third option is the high-end De’Longhi ECAM23460S Digital Super Automatic Espresso Machine. This model offers great convenience and one-touch brewing of various coffee specialties.
Why Does Jura Coffee Taste Better Than Others?
The short answer is that Jura coffee machines are designed to extract the maximum amount of flavor from your favorite beans. They use conical burr grinders which grind your beans more evenly and slowly compared to other grinders. This preserves the natural flavors in the beans and creates a richer cup of coffee every time.
Another awesome feature these machines have is that their temperature control feature ensures that you get the optimal temperature for each type of coffee that you make.
All of these components come together to create a superior cup of coffee.
Do You Need to Descale Your Jura Machine?
Yes, you should descale your JURA machine regularly to keep it in good condition.
Descalers help remove limescale build-up and other deposits that can affect the taste of your coffee as well as reduce the lifespan of your machine.
However, if you are using the Jura CLEAR filter, you do not need to descale your machine as often. The filter removes impurities from the water which helps prevent limescale build-up. I definitely recommend using the CLEAR filter and I rarely need to descale my Jura machine.
Can Jura Make a Latte?
Yes, almost all JURA models have a milk frother that allows you to make a variety of specialty coffee drinks, including lattes. The one touch technology makes it easy to get the perfect latte every time.
Trust me, I know, as I make these around 4 pm every night for a delicious pick me up before dinner!
In summation, Jura coffee machines are worth the investment for coffee enthusiasts who value convenience, precision, and durability and are willing to spend the money to have high-quality coffee beverages with a push of a button.
While the price may be steep, the longevity and the ability to save money in the long run make it worthwhile. The Jura E8 is one of the best things I’ve bought in the last two years: that’s how strongly I feel about it and if you’re sitting on the fence, I’m giving you a nice shove to purchase one and enjoy it for years to come!
